Aromatherapy – Essential Oils For Cuts And Wounds

Did you know that essential oils were some of the most highly prized natural medicines of the ancient world?

…or that most therapeutic herbs can be distilled to obtain an essential oil?

Essential oils are anywhere from 100 – 10,000 times more concentrated than in the original herb so they much more potent than the herb itself.

Many essential oils have powerful bacteria killing properties. That means they can prevent the growth of disease causing microorganisms. For example, clove and thyme oil have been documented to kill over 60 kinds of bacteria and fungi. Cinnamon oil is even more potent. Not a single known pathogenic bacteria is able to survive in its presence.

Before using an essential oil it is a good idea to first test  a small amount on the skin just to make sure your body will tolerate it without discomfort.

In my work as a builder I have often cut my hands. I just reach for a bottle of essential oil and apply a few drops to the wound. By using essential oils the cut never gets infected, mends in record time and never leaves a scar.

My favourite essential oils for treating cuts and wounds are:

The following blend has been used for treating infected cuts:

  • 7 drops geranium
  • 5 drops peppermint
  • 10 drops melaleuca
  • 4 drops thyme

This formula may work to reduce or eliminate scarring:

  • 10 drops geranium
  • 6 drops lavender
  • 8 drops lemongrass
  • 4 drops patchouli

PS I gratefully accept your comments and feedback.

May there be peace in our hearts.

May there be peace for all humanity.

May there be perfect peace on earth.
